Sawyer has over the years been a huge Dale Earnhardt fan. After Dale's death Sawyer continues to build his colleciton of race memorbailia and has won awards for his collection at the local Kern County Fair. According to Sawyer, Dale Earnhard was the best driver there ever was, he will always be greatly missed in the NASCAR circuit.

Sawyer's highlight of his life came when his parents gave him a trip to North Carolina for High School Graduation. He spent time touring the race shops in RACE City USA and Kannapolis, "I especially enjoyed RCR in Welcome North Carolina, I suggest to any race fan if you ever get the chance to visit there go for it!"
