2005 Season Recap
Editorial by: Wiladene Sawyer

The race season was a learning experience for both driver and crew but the rewards came at the race seasons closure. It was obvious at the final race at Irwindale and between Vegas and Mesa the driver and team are going to be among the top of the competition in the 2006 race season. For those who were there...you know what I mean!

So looking back at the season what were the highlights of 2005?
The first big highlight of the season was picking up a fantastic sponsor like BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse. They really took care of the race team and the team enjoyed their food and hospitality of their staff. Thanks again Diane! We also can't wait till they open the new BJs in Bakersfield...you can bet Sawyer Racing will be there!

The second highlight was the fantastic help of FLAMECO Fireplace Specialists, their support in making sure the truck and car hauler made it to the racetrack every other weekend. Thanks Brent & Shelley...your awesome! Then there is Primetime Signs for all those decals that had to be made, Rosedale Automotive, H & S Body Works, Cookes Vet Hospital, and more. There are so many others we could thank and so much to be thankful for. It was great to have so much hometown support behind us in our travels to the Los Angeles area. I also cannot forget all those who made the two hour trip....well you are true race fans...and friends.

One of the biggest highlights was early in the season when Robby earned the evenings "Hard Charger Award". The award is given to the driver who gains the most positions in the 75 lap main event. It was great to see Robby down on the front stretch in the winner's circle and can he talk on that microphone, the crowd loved it. As a matter of fact, the kids at Irwindale really support Robby and the autograph session always has tons of kids picking up BJs coupons, they also keep Robby busy signing autographs. They really love getting Robby's autograph....{maybe its all that free candy he hands out with the autograph cards}.....!

Once again, great job Robby, and great PR work! --------------
